What Students Will Learn

Australian Curriculum Links

This kit directly supports the Australian Curriculum: Science (ACSSU097 – electrical energy can be transferred and transformed in circuits) and Digital Technologies (ACTDIP010 – design and implement simple digital solutions). It also aligns with STEM F–10 learning outcomes, including the development of design thinking, data representation, and the application of systems thinking to solve real-world problems. Teachers can easily map activities to content descriptors for Years 3–6 across multiple learning areas.

Coding Platform

No coding required. This kit focuses on hardware-based electrical circuit construction, making it accessible to students with no prior programming experience. Teachers can optionally extend the activity by integrating simple code-based triggers using compatible microcontrollers, but the core activity is code-free.

Each kit contains: 1 x alarm buzzer module, 1 x battery holder with leads, 1 x push-button switch, 1 x magnetic reed switch, 1 x set of connecting wires, 1 x cardboard base template, 1 x set of puzzle challenge cards, and a comprehensive teacher guide with circuit diagrams and classroom activity notes. All components are reusable and classroom durable.

Classroom Setup and Requirements

Each student or pair requires one kit and a flat workspace. No additional tools are needed. The kit operates on standard AA batteries (not included). Activities can be completed in a single 45-minute session or extended across multiple lessons for deeper exploration. Minimal teacher preparation is required, with the included guide providing step-by-step instructions and extension ideas for differentiated learning.
