What Students Will Learn
Students develop foundational engineering and design thinking skills as they construct a motorised Mecha Warrior model. This hands-on activity introduces principles of mechanical movement, structural stability, and gear systems. Learners enhance spatial reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and fine motor coordination through iterative building and testing. The kit encourages creativity and perseverance, as students modify their designs to achieve desired motion and functionality.
Who It's For
Ideal for primary and lower secondary students in Years 3 to 8. Suitable for classroom STEM activities, after-school clubs, and extension programs. Directly supports Design and Technologies, Digital Technologies, and Science subject areas, with strong cross-curricular links to mathematics and critical thinking.
Australian Curriculum Links
Aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and Design and Technologies F–10. Students apply computational thinking to sequence steps for construction and use design processes to generate, evaluate, and communicate design ideas. Links to Science understanding of forces, motion, and simple machines. Supports STEM F–10 learning outcomes including investigating and defining problems, producing and implementing solutions, and evaluating designs.
Coding Platform
No coding required. This kit focuses on mechanical construction and hands-on engineering. It provides a screen-free STEM experience that builds foundational understanding of movement and forces without the need for digital programming.
What's in the Box
Contains over 300 interlocking building blocks, including specialised gear pieces, axles, connectors, and a motorised mechanism. Includes a Mecha Warrior model instruction booklet with step-by-step diagrams. Also includes a storage container for easy classroom organisation. All components are compatible with standard MOC building block systems for extended creative play.
Classroom Setup & Requirements
Requires a flat workspace and access to AA batteries (not included) for the motorised unit. Suitable for individual or pair work. No additional tools required. Recommended for groups of 1–2 students per kit. Minimal setup time; simply distribute kits and instruction booklets.
